Press Release: FMT sells docking systems division
FMT Aircraft Gate Support Systems AB, with its registered office in Trelleborg, Sweden has sold the aircraft gate docking systems division to thyssenkrupp’s Airport Solutions business.
The division acquired by thyssenkrupp includes the FMT developed Visual Docking Guidance System with product name APIS (Aircraft Parking and Information System) and the software-based Stand Management System, named Atlantis.
thyssenkrupp was looking for products to strengthen its airport systems and found FMT aircraft gate docking systems to be a perfect match. Philip de Coninck, CEO of thyssenkrupp Airport Solutions commented the deal with “Together, our international footprint and FMT’s expertise in developing these systems, will provide us with a considerable advantage in enhancing our current offerings and meeting the future needs of our customers.”
FMT has since 1970 developed and supplied Passenger Boarding Bridges and will now fully focus on the further development of these products, which includes passenger bridges and handling equipment for both Airports and Seaports. The tradition as passenger bridge manufacturer is firmly established in the DNA of the company. “FMT is known for high quality products with cutting edge technology, which we are especially proud of being able to offer and deliver” says, Peter Kollert, FMT Chairman of the Board.
FMT’s current development process will take the FMT Passenger Boarding Bridges technology to a new ultra-modern level with not only simplified operation, but also shortened turnaround times with increased safety for passengers, aircraft and gate equipment. “This natural technical evolution will increase the already extensive IP portfolio of FMT Passenger Bridges which puts FMT as the most innovative Passenger Bridge manufacturer” says Per Thelander, FMT Managing Director.
FMT Passenger handling systems for Seaports and other new products in the portfolio will get even more focus after the disconnection of the aircraft gate docking systems and will further strengthen the already strong FMT market position.
